A response of in Christ, in Malaysiakini.
The recent Makkal Osai incident have spurs different reaction from different groups of people (including political party, religious bodies etc.). Some took this as an opportunity to raise their concerns, some took this as an opportunity to sabotage.
If you ask me, for I'm a Christian, what would my reaction be? My answer is rather simple - though it is rude for anyone to make fun of Christ Jesus, I don't find the need to react in punishing them. A simple caricature that portrays Jesus who smokes does not justify the degradation of my Christ Jesus image in my heart. In fact, I don't think anyone who have a sane mind would think Jesus Christ would smoke.
To be theological, the act of smoking does not mean sinful - it is the reaction of smoking that is sinful. Smoking brings harm to our body (everyone agrees on that), and my only disagreement of smoking is because God have asked us to take care of our body well. This means - over eating (gluttony) equally sinful just like smoking :)
On the contrary of how media and government have shown their dissatisfaction against Makkal Osai, hereby I represent a niche group of people to state our stand in acknowledging the insignificant level of importance in persecuting the news publisher. One day, one month, one year, it is not important.
Ironically, we can see from the decision of government as this issue is rather "inconsistent". If you think back, previously - we had the similar issue with the Mohammed caricature. My point here wasn't meant to say that I want a longer suspension* for this company (in fact earlier I already said it is not important). What I'm trying to say here is that, there's no consistency on the government side. I wonder why.
My point is, should a country's ministerial decision be inconsistent? I seriously doubt so...
Celebrating 50 years of nationhood. Let's do our part in making a greater future ahead :)
* edit: replaced the word ban with suspension.
Does Jesus smokes?

Dear Friends,
Maybe you're sitting at the corner and enjoying sipping a cup of coffee, listening to a soothing jazz music, anticipating the celebration of our country's 50th Independence day. Unfortunately, and sadly, this is a mirage of what we ought to get carried away from the reality of life - in fact, the serious issues we face in our country.
1) PKFZ (Port Klang Free Zone) Controversy - a project which causes much concerned of how things being done, and how non-transparent are the works being done, causing the lost of RM 3 billion (not your usual RM3 char-kuey-tiow) to no where (or some where, if you understand what i meant). Media such as theSun, Malaysiakini, Merderkareview and even Kit have been biting the government on this issue. Just type "PKFZ 4.6" in google, and you can read quite some articles regarding it.
2) Namewee Controversy - a pitiful youth being intimidated by our own beloved government, being used as an instrument (or victim to precised) to divert our own people's attention away from greater issues, which we're facing. It is pitiful for us as citizen of Malaysia to realised that our own beloved cabinet have the time to discuss at length of how to prosecute namewee, instead of discussing more urgent and important issues which we concern more. Just type "namewee jail", you can read quite some articles regarding it, too.
3) Bus-es Crisis - Just a week, we have more than 3 serious bus accidents that involved death and injuries of innocent bus passenger. Instead of solving the root cause of the issue, cabinet decided to retract the license of a bus company if a serious accident occurred. Just type "Malaysia bus accident".
4) Rawang High Tension Wire - the folks in kampung baru rawang have been intimated by TNB numerous time for the contruction of high tension wire (and so call part of the national grid). Just type "Rawang high tension".
5) Media Silence - our beloved mainstream media have been real quiet regarding many issues happened in our country. Why? You guess it yourself.
There's lots of on my list, but it is sufficient for me to bring out my point to you:
1) Are you aware of what's happening in our country?
2) If yes, what's your response?
3) If yes, what should you do?
I'm not suggesting you join a political party, neither suggesting you to go against the government. Ironically, my appeal here wasn't meant to be political. I am only bringing forward my concern for the country to you - Can you be a concerned citizen of Malaysia?
For those who are Christian - Being a Christian, it is not as simple as living out "the life of Christ". The reason I put quotient is because the definition for the life of Christ was never meant to be just a "good" Christian, but also to be a concerned Christian. In this case, this is what we meant by the true meaning of loving your neighbour.
Celebrating 50 years of nationhood. Can you do it? Let's do it together, as a GOOD and CONCERNED Malaysian citizen. This is my appeal to you.

Nothing political in nature. this post is about the recent progress of the namewee crisis. malaysiakini and merdekareview respectively reported the decision of government against namewee - Sedition Act will come into scene.
Something interesting that spurs my interest in writing this post - regarding our dearest minister Nazri warning against cyberspace.
I just wonder, is he serious? At the pervasive era of Internet, how can one thinks that he could actually warn (or threaten) to take action against anyone who shares youtube videos?
I believe there's two issues we need to ponder upon, objectively:
1. Equation? We need to first understand the definition of "republication" and "sharing" in the aspect of Internet. Can we equalize "sharing youtube videos" as "republicating youtube video"? Can we actually consider sharing youtube video (in forms of inserting youtube video links in email, posting the link in our blog, sending youtube video url through instant messaging, etc.) as republication?
2. Sedition? Is sharing youtube video by all forms of its nature is being considered as seditious? Even if the law does insist sharing youtube video is republicating youtube video, is its nature is being considered as seditious?

纳兹里也警告公众不能转载《我爱我的国家Negarakuku》,并表示要采取行动对付分享Youtube的视频及违法刊登敏感材料的其他部落客。(excerpt from merdekareview)According to merdekareview, Nazri Aziz warned the public not to republish the video "Negarakuku", and said he will take action against any blogger that share (that) youtube channel and post sensitive materials, which against the law of Malaysia.
